- Add localization to your page titles where Google will see it immediately—e.g. “Smith & Jones|Attorneys at Law|Menlo Park, CA.”
- Add NAP (name, address and phone) information wherever appropriate (possibly in the footer of every page) and make sure it’s consistent.
- Change 800 numbers to local numbers in your contact information, or add local numbers with local area codes.
- Claim your business with Google+, Yelp and Facebook and write descriptions with local keywords. (Our guide has details.)
- Start thinking about local tie-ins that will produce citations—like a Chamber of Commerce that will list your business in a directory. (But make sure they have a website, or they won’t contribute to local search visibility.)
